Dr. Jann Derrick

Mentor & Clinical Supervisor

Dr. Jann Derrick is a Registered Family Therapist with over 40 years of experience and a respected leader in trauma-informed care, particularly in the areas of Indigenous Historical Trauma and the intergenerational effects of Residential School experiences.

Of Irish, English, and Haudenosaunee ancestry, Jann’s work is rooted in restoring safety, identity, and belonging for children within their families and communities. Her career has included frontline therapy, clinical supervision, program development, and national advocacy, including work with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls Inquiry. She is also a Clinical Member and Supervisor Mentor with the Canadian Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and a member of the Canadian Psychological Association.

During Caroline Winship's Master of Counselling internship, Jann served as her clinical supervisor and mentor—an experience that sparked a sacred friendship built on shared values, a love for children and families, and a mutual passion for holistic healing.

Reflecting on their work together, Jann wrote, “Caroline loves life and it shines through in everything she does as a counsellor. She loves people and she loves seeing children do their best with what they bring. Her spiritual faith is her core strength along with her challenging life experiences that have taught her how to walk with others in a loving, empathic way. She has a super sense of humour and fun which brings balance to her work and to her own life. She could run a high-profile organization with great efficiency while being a close, fun-loving, good friend with her staff as well.”

Jann’s ongoing mentorship continues to be a grounding and inspiring influence in Caroline’s work and in the mission of Galia Wellness Services. Read more about Jann's work at www.4windswellness.ca
